Welcome back to Eureka! This 4th installment focuses on two secondary characters, Raif Jones - town “bad boy” and Jemima- sister of Cass。 We have seen Raif sprinkled into all of the previous three books and Jemima was a new addition in Piper/ex’a story。 Both characters have had hard knocks and it was sweet to get to know them and see who they really are outside of their reputations。 I appreciated how Ms Louise pulled things together and let their friendship/romance evolve organically。 I especial Welcome back to Eureka! Raif stole my heartIs this my favorite in the series? I think it might be。 You could read this as a stand-alone, but it’s definitely enhanced by knowing the world and side characters whose stories are told in the previous books。 Raif’s family is the wrong side of the tracks bad news family。 Jemima’s sister is married into the Stone family, and even though they were separated for their childhood, they’re reunited now and the Stone family is a large part of her story as well。 Raif… oh Raif… I want Raif stole my heartIs this my favorite in the series? I question Jemima’s belief that adopting Nikki is going to keep Bill away。 I’m pretty sure he’d have no qualms about stealing her from Jemima。 I’m also curious about him being so intent on getting Nikki back。 He was raided by ICE which to me indicates he was operating on a larger scale than just one kid。 The law must not have found anything to pin on him since he’s not in jail。 That or he has a good bail bondsman。 I’m also curious as to how he discovered where Jemima and Nikki had run to。 I’m so I question Jemima’s belief that adopting Nikki is going to keep Bill away。 I’m pretty sure he’d have no qualms about stealing her from Jemima。 I’m also curious about him being so intent on getting Nikki back。 He was raided by ICE which to me indicates he was operating on a larger scale than just one kid。 The law must not have found anything to pin on him since he’s not in jail。 That or he has a good bail bondsman。 I’m also curious as to how he discovered where Jemima and Nikki had run to。 I’m so worried that Raif agreeing to work with his brother is going to backfire and his bad boy rep will be reignited。I think this is my favorite of the four couple’s stories。 Raif and Jemima are immediately drawn to one another and there is little to no hesitation in expressing their mutual attraction。 They are both good hearted and have suffered some hard knocks in their upbringings。 Raif is attempting to rise above his lot in life and Jemima gives him greater motivation than when he was simply striving on his own behalf。 He immediately agrees to help Jemima in her desire to adopt Nikki by becoming a married couple。 There’s suspense along with quite a few memorable happy family gatherings, not to mention a Mardi Gras parade and drag queens。 。。。more

Hot, cute, swoony, and low angstVery sexy and, despite some dangerous criminal elements, fairly low angst。 Raif and Jemima fell hard right away, and their devotion to each other never wavered。 They were smoking hot separately and together, and their connection was very well written and palpable。 The other colorful small-town characters and pets further enhanced the story。 Overall, a nicely done, very enjoyable read。
